These Six Answers Cover the Fundamentals

Is investment migration the same as refugee or family-sponsored immigration?
No, they are entirely different legal pathways. Citizenship/Residency-by-Investment (CBI/RBI) is a commercial program where a sovereign state grants citizenship in exchange for a qualifying investment. It's statutorily defined, transparently priced, and issued with an official government approval. Refugee and family-reunification categories are humanitarian pathways with completely different criteria. We work exclusively in the investment-migration space, strictly within statutory frameworks.
Will my original passport be automatically cancelled?
Not automatically. Mainland China does not recognize dual citizenship — cancellation is triggered only if you proactively declare the new citizenship or use the second passport to enter China. Throughout the application process, no notification is sent to Chinese authorities. How and when to use each passport involves nuanced planning we walk through individually with each client.
What happens if I pay and never receive a passport?
Legitimate CBI programs are structured in payment phases. You pay a due-diligence fee upfront (roughly US$10–20K). If due diligence fails, the agent service fee may be non-refundable, but the main investment payment hasn't yet occurred. The investment payment is only triggered after you receive an Approval-in-Principle letter — at which point approval is effectively secured. Under our process, client financial exposure is capped at roughly 5% of the total.
What's a second passport actually useful for?
Five core use cases: (1) expanded travel freedom via additional visa-free access; (2) a contingency identity against geopolitical or policy uncertainty; (3) cross-border tax structuring; (4) long-term educational pathway optionality for children; (5) a required identity element for certain offshore corporate structures. Nobody "has to" have one — but for specific profiles, it's a material strategic asset.
How do I figure out which passport fits me?
Four decision axes: (1) budget ($100K–$750K+ depending on program); (2) primary use case (European mobility? US access? Asia coverage?); (3) processing speed required; (4) family structure (size, dependents, elderly parents). Apply those four filters and we can usually narrow the field to 2–3 serious candidates. The final step is a direct conversation.
Why apply now instead of waiting a year?
Potentially a $10K–$50K difference. CBI programs have been raising prices and tightening due diligence for five consecutive years. St. Kitts went from $150K in 2022 to $250K by 2024. São Tomé is a newly-opened window with the lowest barrier currently available. Waiting a year typically costs you at least the equivalent of a property down payment.
